ALICE ROONEY METZGER
Alice was born on June 29, 1901, in Philadelphia, the daughter of James and Mary Rooney. Alice moved to Prescott in 1921 as the bride of Henry G. Metzger and lived for more than 60 years at 220 South Virginia Street. She and Henry had four sons: James, Robert, Thomas and Henry Paul, who was killed at one year of age.
Alice was a volunteer at Sharlot Hall Museum and was custodian of the Museum from 1953-54. She then worked as a librarian at the Prescott Public Library, a position she held for more than 15 years. Alice was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish, singing in the choir and as a member of Catholic Daughters of America and Altar Society. She was proud of being an Irish Prescottonian.
In 1983, Alice moved to Casa Grande in order to be near her son, Jim. Alice died on May 4, 1995, and was buried at Mountain View Cemetery.
