Territorial Women's Memorial Rose Garden
Almira, the daughter of Henry Mortimer Cone, was born in Helena, Montana, on November 3, 1867. She came to Arizona with her parents in 1880. Cone was the first postmaster at Cornville, Arizona Territory.

Many times the family was forced to sleep out of doors when Indians would be on one of their periodic raids, killing settlers and burning their homes.

Almira married Robert L. Hayes. Her daughter was Edna G. (Mrs. Cort) Meier.
Almira died on February 14, 1924, in Phoenix.
