Annie was born on November 10, 1869, at New Hope, Hawkins, Tennessee, daughter of James Allen and Minerva Ann Lawson Jones.

On October 29, 1890, Annie married Charles Hopkins Allen at Logan, Cache, Utah. Charles was a farmer and 30 years older than Annie. Charles and Annie and Annie's four-year-old son Ira Joseph came to Mesa, Arizona, in 1891.

The couple had eight children of their own: Sidney Levi, born December 20, 1891; Annie Minerva Sanders, born August 29, 1893; Minnie May Anderson, born August 23, 1895; Hazel Naomi Lipe born August 25, 1897; Preston Hopkins born August 18, 1899; Benjamin Jones, born October 30, 1901; William Jones, born April 23, 1904; and Eliza Roxie McClendon, born September 18, 1907.

In addition to being wife and mother, Annie was a practical nurse and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Annie died on May 24, 1945, and is buried in Mesa, Arizona. At the time of her death, she had 44 grandchildren.
