Territorial Women's Memorial Rose Garden

Clara was born November 4, 1886, in Kennolia, Mississippi, the daughter of Horace Gilmore and Evelyn Virginia Lee Godbold. She was raised on the Godbold farm near McCall's Creek and attended Millsaps College and Ruskin Cave College in Mississippi.

Clara married Enoch Carruth Seale in August 1914, while he was attending medical school at Vanderbilt University. She taught school in various parts of Mississippi and worked as a nurse during World War I. The Seales moved to Aurora, Colorado, near Fitzimmons Hospital, and in 1920 came to Fort Whipple near Prescott, Arizona.

Clara had two children: Enoch C. Seale, Jr. (1916) and Evelyn Virginia (Mrs. J. F. Madden) in 1921. Clara helped her husband with the books and inventory, but for the most part was a housewife, belonging to the Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.

Clara died in Prescott on May 15, 1953, and was buried at Mountain View Cemetery.
