Territorial Women's Memorial Rose Garden
Emma was born December 23, 1865 in New York state. She was the older daughter of Anna S. Dickey and Sidney Jone, both of whom were from Massachusetts. Her younger sister was Carrie.

She married William Archie Kent on August 21, 1888, in Mayville, Chautauqua, New York. He was the son of Archie Flynn Kent, Jr. and Emily Keeler of Jamestown, New York. The Kents had a son, Kenneth Raymond, born in February 14, 1892; an unnamed son, born in 1896; and a daughter, Gertrude Maude (Mrs. Clarence) Wright, born in May 1899.

After visiting the West in the late 19th century, the Kents moved to Prescott in 1906. Their family home was established by 1910 on Mt. Vernon. They moved to California briefly but were back in Yavapai County by 1915.

Emma was president of the Monday Club, 1915-16, the 500 club and the Woman's Club, the Red Cross. Emma served as an officer in the State Federation of Women's Clubs. She belonged to and was active in the Congregational Church.

In the 1920s, Emma moved back to California, living in San Jose, Santa Clara and Los Gatos.

She died August 28, 1935, in Santa Clara. William died June 9, 1938. Both were buried in California.
