HAZEL I. SWENSON
Hazel was born in Iowa on December 13, 1901. She married Dr. Earl A. Swenson, a dentist, and came to Prescott in 1930. They had a son, Earl.
Hazel graduated from Cook County Hospital in Chicago as a registered nurse. After coming to Prescott, she worked with Dr. E. A. Born and was a Yavapai County Nurse. Hazel belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Monday Club.
From 1957-58, Hazel was president of the Alta Vista Garden Club. For 20 years she was a Rainbow Girls' counselor. Assembly No. 29 of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls is named for her.
The Swensons lived at 307 South Mr. Vernon. The communion service in the Congregational Church was given in memory of her husband, and the dining room at Samaritan Village was given in her name.
Hazel died on June 6, 1976, and was buried in Mountain View Cemetery.
