Nellie Mae, daughter of James Buel and Mattie Josephine DeLille Lloyd, was born on December 1, 1897, in Victor, Colorado. She and her family moved to the Mayer area in 1909, where her father worked as a miner for the Brooklyn Mine. She graduated from Mayer High School in 1913.

On September 3, 1917, Nellie married William Carlton Larremore, and the couple had eight children: Audrey Nora Terrell Rosenberger, born July 16, 1918; Mabel Mae Bennett, born August 14, 1921; Lotus Zelda Larremore, born July 9, 1927, deceased March 2, 1929; Mattie Jane Vaughn born September 29, 1929; Larry Lloyd born August 6, 1931; William Carlton, born April 3, 1935; and Robert Bradford, born June 29, 1938. In addition to being a busy mother and housewife, Nellie helped William operate the Feed, Fuel and General store in Mayer that the couple owned.

Nellie was active in the Ladies Aid Society of Mayer and civic improvement clubs in Mayer. She was also a member of the Christian Science Church. Daughter Mabel Mae wrote that her mother was a dedicated, good wife and mother and a kind gracious lady. "A person who never had a negative word about anyone and happy and appreciative of what she had, a very dear and loving person."

Nellie died on September 16, 1986, at her daughter’s home in Bagdad. She was buried in the family plot at Mt. View Cemetery.
