VINNIE E. LEE SHIVERS
Vinnie was born in Prescott on August 22, 1895, the daughter of Albert E. Lee of Mint Valley, and granddaughter of H. L. Lee, founder of the American Ranch.
She married David W. Shivers, the grandson of pioneer David Wesley Shivers and the owner of the Rezzonico Dairy in Chino Valley and the West End Grocery on Gurley Street.
The Shivers had two stepdaughters, Doris Wilson and Betty J. Walser. Betty was the daughter of David and his first wife Hazel Garner Shivers.
At one time, Vinnie and D. W. occupied a portion of the Governor's Mansion when it was apartments, and upon his death, Vinnie planted a remembrance rose there. Her grandmother, Agnes Lee, is also represented in the Rose Garden.
Vinnie died on April 7, 1986, in Cottonwood.
