J.B. Allen
(Whiteface, Texas) cowboyed for over thirty years and his experiences
and the stories he heard along the way permeate his poetry. J. B.
has been invited to various gatherings through the years, published a
book (now out of print), produced several tapes, seen several poems
included in anthologies, and has received one of two Shepperson
Scholarship Awards from the original Cowboy Poetry Gathering at Elko,
Nevada. J.B. also was elected in 1994 as county commissioner and
has since been reelected. His book of original poems received the
Wrangler Award for Poetry from the Cowboy Hall of Fame. |
