Calendar of EventsThe Sharlot Hall Museum sponsors several major events each year, including the Folk Arts Fair Village, Prescott Indian Art Market, the Folk Music Festival, and the Frontier Christmas. In addition, the Museum presents lectures, plays by the Blue Rose Theater, the Annual Western History Symposium, and other special events.
Here's a list of the remaining 2012 events open to the public: Ongoing through September 9, 2012 A Centennial Canvas: Paintings by Contemporary Prescott Artists Sharlot Hall Museum’s exhibition and sale of new paintings by 10 prominent Prescott artists that capture the beauty, history and culture of the Prescott area. The exhibit is being held in conjunction with Arizona’s centennial celebration. Open daily through September 9 . Included with Museum admission.

Saturday, June 9, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Arizona History Adventure, Sharlot Hall Museum, 415 W. Gurley St., Prescott. “Gardening in Granite” is the theme for this month’s educational adventure. Most families found it necessary to put in a garden plot to help feed everyone. Central Arizona did, and still does, pose its own set of problems for raising crops. Included with Museum admission. Friday, June 22, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 28, 6:30 p.m. Friday, June 29, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, June 30, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. “Ladies of the Garden: We Will Vote” Sharlot Hall Museum’s Blue Rose Theater presents a powerful and entertaining historical play written Jody Drake and directed by Randi Wise. “We Will Vote” relates the tale of an impassioned 1912 discussion of the issue of women’s suffrage featuring some of Arizona’s most impressive women in the most unexpected of settings. Sunday, June 24, 2 p.m. Bringing Them Home: The Chautauquas Sharlot Hall Museum’s Blue Rose Theater, 415 W. Gurley St., Prescott. Chautauqua speaker T.J. McMichael from Eagar, AZ dons the personality and likeness of famed environmentalist and ecologist Aldo Leopold (1887-1948). A research biologist and storyteller, McMichael infuses his Leopold presentation with a deep knowledge of flora and fauna, as well as a passion for the legacy of The Sand County Almanac author. McMichael studied wildlife management at the University of Arizona under the instruction of Dr. Lyle Sowls, a former student of Aldo Leopold. Admission: members $3, nonmembers $5, under 18 free. For your $30 donation to Museum’s Living History program, you receive an instruction packet for the project of your choice and workshop help to complete the project. This workshop will explore two themes: “gardening in granite” and “sewing for the family,” featuring a presentation on frontier gardening and handmade garments.

While there was ready to wear clothing available on the frontier, most families bought only what they absolutely had to, such as shoes, socks and some men’s clothing, and made the rest at home either by hand or with a sewing machine if they were fortunate. Saturday, September 25, 2010 Smithsonian Museum Day Sharlot Hall Museum will participate in the Smithsonian’s annual Museum Day by offering free admission to visitors who present Smithsonian magazine’s Museum Day Admission Card at the Sharlot Hall Museum admissions desk.
